Q&A: Best Cycling places in the world = The Alps ?

Question by PAUL W: Best Cycling places in the world = The Alps ?
Alps – French, Itailain, Swiss, Austrain are Bella bella !!

Been a dozen or so times

French / Italian Alps – Susa was not too nice a town though.

Indeed in and out of Austria, Switzerland, France, Austria & Italy many times.

Did the Simplon this summer, plus went into Italy from Zermat on the cable car !

Done the Stelvio pass 3 times – just fab.

The Dolomites – beautiful.

When over pass, phisterjoch ?? started 20 miles from end of Val Gardena, unmade road at the top, footpath down to a HEP dam above Mayerhofen in Austria’s Ziller valley.

Cycled all the big lakes – been to top of Mont Iseo, top of Marmoloda, went to Cortina. Masive steep road from Marmoloda cable car base station, up to HEP dam then dowm other side. Passed an amazing village with ornate iron scluptures everwhere, in public gardens, on sides of houses – amazing.

Went from Menton along the Med into Italy and back via Alps too. Flew home from Nice.
Flown to Geneva, Zurich, and Nice to do parts of Alps. Got a coach twice to Austria – long trip, no point now with cheap flights.

Did 1800 miles one summer – flew to Milan, cycled around most of the big lakes, in and out of CH, over to Venice, up into the Dolomites, into Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Simplon, Umbrail, Stevio, Lugano and back to Milan. Only 15 mins rain, when on the bikes, in 5 weeks. Had some great thunderstorms at night !!

Fancy cycling in Umbrai, Tuscany and Rome one day.

Cheers – soz if any place names spelt wrong.
